On September 16, 2024, the World’s Top 2% Scientists 2024 was released by Stanford University and Elsevier. Associate Professor Li Bingyu from the Department of Sociology at the Shenzhen University School of Government was recognized on the single-year impact list 2023.
The list, based on Scopus citation data, evaluates scientists using six comprehensive metrics, including total citations, the H-index, and the HM factor. Out of nearly seven million researchers globally, the top 2% are selected across 22 major fields and 176 subfields. This ranking aims to provide an objective and accurate measurement of scientists’ achievements by assessing both career-long impact and single-year impact, offering a more accurate reflection of a scholar’s research performance and influence.
About Associate Professor Li Bingyu
Li Bingyu holds a Ph.D. in Gerontology from the University of Hong Kong, an M.Ed. from the University of Toronto, and a B.A. of Literature from Sun Yat-sen University. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy & Practice and Cognitive Health Center. Li is also a member of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) research team, a certified trainer for PID (Play Intervention For Dementia), and a certified practitioner of the Strategies and Skills Learning and Development (SSLD) system from the University of Toronto. She is a licensed psychologist with the Chinese Psychological Society, an expert consultant for Shenzhen Pengxing Social Work Service, and a recognized overseas high-level talent (Category C) in Shenzhen.
Her research interests include dementia intervention, gerontology theory, end-of-life care, innovative qualitative research methods, and gender studies. Li has published over 30 papers in prestigious SSCI and SCI journals, including The Gerontologist, International Journal of Qualitative Methods, Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease, BMC Geriatrics, and Neurology. She has also contributed three chapters to international textbooks. In addition, Li has served as a long-term reviewer for the International Journal of Qualitative Methods and is on the editorial board of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease.
