On September 5, 2025, the PhD thesis writing workshop co-hosted by our college, the Department of Public and International Affairs at City University of Hong Kong, and the Faculty of Social Sciences at University of Macau was successfully held at City University of Hong Kong. The workshop was initiated by Professor Alfred Ho, Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at City University of Hong Kong, and Professor Eddie Hui, Head of the Department of Public and International Affairs, and consisted of three sessions: thematic speeches, student presentations with editor comments, and roundtable discussions.

The roundtable discussion session was co-organized by Professor Gu Zhijun, Vice Dean of our college, Professor Wang Xiaohu from City University of Hong Kong, and Associate Professor Wen Bo from University of Macau. Gu Zhijun introduced to the faculty and students present the basic situation and precautions for publishing in Chinese journals, emphasizing that paper quality is the most critical factor affecting publication, and hoping everyone upholds a rigorous and pragmatic academic attitude, extensively reads cutting-edge literature at home and abroad, bases on actual discipline needs, and explores topics with both practical significance and academic value.
Assistant Professor Chen Shuo from the Department of Political Science at our college reported research findings titled "Political Meritocracy in Chinese Cadre Personnel Management" in a sub-forum, analyzing the mechanism of selecting the worthy and capable in China's cadre personnel management; PhD students Deng Xiuxian, Nabel Akram, and others also participated in the event.
This workshop effectively promoted high-quality academic exchanges between faculty and students of our college, City University of Hong Kong, and University of Macau. After the event, the three parties further discussed in depth matters such as platform co-construction, faculty mutual visits, and research cooperation.
