On December 7, 2025, the 11th Guangdong MPA Badminton Team Competition, hosted by the Guangdong University MPA Alliance and co-organized by the School of Public Administration and MPA Education Center at Guangzhou University, grandly opened at the He Shijie Gymnasium, Guangzhou University (University Town Campus). This event attracted participants from 15 MPA training institutions in Guangdong Province, with nearly 350 faculty and students gathering in Guangzhou to make friends through badminton and promote integration via competition.
The MPA Education Center of our university formed a team with Teacher Zhang Wankun as coach, Teachers Qi Tengfei, Chen Ying, Cao Jinyu, Postdoctoral Fellow Zeng Linmiao, and MPA students Zhang Ting, Cao Sijie, Lin Zhenggeng, Wang Xianzhe, Chen Siqin, Tan Hua, Mao Shangda, Liao Siyuan, Yang Yi, Li Manying as main players. Led by MPA graduate secretary Teacher Fan Siyu, the Shenzhen University MPA badminton team went to Guangzhou to compete and won the excellent second prize in the team competition.
This team competition featured five events: first men's doubles, first mixed doubles, women's doubles, second mixed doubles, and second men's doubles. The 15 competing teams were drawn into four groups and competed through a three-stage format: The first stage group single round-robin determined the top eight, the second stage crossover elimination produced the top four, and the third stage ranking matches decided positions 1-4.
Facing fierce competition, our university's players displayed high morale and exquisite skills, ultimately advancing with second place in the group through outstanding team coordination and individual performance, smoothly entering the second-stage elimination rounds. In the elimination stage, they engaged in intense battles with the team from South China Agricultural University, with back-and-forth exchanges and close scores, presenting a wonderful high-level contest. The players' exquisite skills and tenacious fighting spirit on the court won rounds of applause from the audience.
Through this event, the MPA faculty and students of our university not only demonstrated a positive spirit and solid training results but also deepened exchanges and cooperation with sister institutions in the province. In the future, the MPA Education Center at Shenzhen University will continue to support faculty and students in participating in various cultural and sports activities, promoting comprehensive quality improvement and further enriching the connotations of the MPA cultivation system.
