On May 17, the Practice and Innovation Department of the School of Government’s Communist Youth League Committee held a face-to-face alumni tea party themed “Breaking Boundaries for Transformation, Pioneering New Paths” in Room 205, South Wing, Sifang Building. The event invited four distinguished alumni—Li Jialu, Jia Bin, Ji Changlan, and Ma Dapeng—to share their experiences in cross-disciplinary career development.

The event was divided into three segments: alumni sharing, face-to-face tea party, and a label-tearing and message-leaving activity. The first segment was the alumni sharing session.

Alumna Li Jialu, now focusing on comprehensive Hong Kong study abroad services, founded the brand “Hello, Juniors—HK Edition.” She shared with students the professional qualities and skills to cultivate during study and job searches, emphasizing exploration in areas of interest to help dispel uncertainties about the future.

Alumnus Jia Bin, now engaged in elderly care consulting services. He shared his job search experiences, detailed employment trends and opportunities in the elderly care industry, and summarized valuable lessons from his personal journey.

Alumna Ji Changlan, currently an AI project manager. She presented three core principles for achieving workplace success, guiding students in their future job searches.

Alumnus Ma Dapeng, currently a counselor at Shenzhen University’s School of Management. Drawing on years of professional experience, he showcased the broad career prospects in sociology and emphasized the importance of flexible career choices.

The event then proceeded to the tea party segment. Alumni and students sat around tables for interactive exchanges, with students asking about university life, career planning, and job directions, and alumni providing enthusiastic responses in a lively and friendly atmosphere.

Finally, the label-tearing and message-leaving segment. In this segment, students and alumni together approached the label wall, tearing off stereotypical labels about sociology and public administration collected before the event and replacing them with notes written by students about their future aspirations.

Centered on “breaking boundaries,” this alumni tea party showcased the diverse integration of professional backgrounds and cross-disciplinary practices through the alumni’s varied career paths. The event not only broke the singular reliance on paths like civil service exams or postgraduate studies but also inspired students to reassess the connection between their strengths and contemporary opportunities. We look forward to students, on their future paths, maintaining the resolve to deepen their professional expertise while having the courage to break boundaries, making every choice a solid step toward their ideals.
