On January 21, 2026, a delegation from the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies (RSIS), Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, visited the ASEAN-Greater Bay Area Research Institute at Shenzhen University. The delegation held a symposium with senior representatives from the School of Government and the Research Institute, engaging in in-depth discussions on think tank research collaboration, joint talent cultivation, and other key topics, and reached preliminary cooperation agreements.
The delegation included Chen Dalun, Director of Policy Research and Deputy Director of the Institute of Defence and Strategic Studies at RSIS; Li Mingjiang, Deputy Dean and Director of Graduate Programmes at RSIS; He Zien, Assistant Professor at the China Programme, RSIS; and Lin Haoze, Research Fellow at the Military Studies Programme, RSIS. Attending the symposium from Shenzhen University were He Yanhui, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Government; Lyu Yuanli, former Director of the ASEAN-Greater Bay Area Research Institute; Li Shufei, Executive Director of the Institute; Fu Yang, Deputy Director of the Institute; and Zhang Xiao, Assistant Researcher.


At the symposium, He Yanhui, on behalf of the School of Government and the ASEAN-Greater Bay Area Research Institute at Shenzhen University, extended a warm welcome to the delegation and outlined three key expectations for future collaboration. First, focus on cutting-edge issues in ASEAN-Greater Bay Area cooperation, strengthen collaborative research linkages between the two think tanks, and jointly generate high-impact research outcomes. Second, expand pathways for joint talent cultivation by exploring diversified models such as student exchanges, co-teaching, and academic workshops, so as to nurture professionals dedicated to regional development. Third, establish a regular platform for exchanges and cooperation, foster long-term communication mechanisms, and realize resource sharing and complementary strengths.
The two sides held in-depth discussions on shared areas of interest, including regional cooperation and strategic studies, and reached preliminary consensus on cooperation directions and implementation measures. The RSIS delegation highly commended the construction achievements and development vision of the ASEAN-Greater Bay Area Research Institute at Shenzhen University. They expressed strong interest in pursuing multi-dimensional and in-depth cooperation with Shenzhen University in the future, and in jointly contributing wisdom and strength to the coordinated development of the Greater Bay Area and the ASEAN region.
